Central Park, another famous historical landmark of New York, is a great place to spend the day with your family, just strolling around, or having a picnic next to one of the small lakes in the park. Entrance to the park is free.

Also perfect for the family, is the Bronx Zoo, which was opened way back in 1898. The zoo boasts about 4000 animals, of which there are over 650 different species. There are numerous picnic tables all over the zoo, so pack a picnic lunch and spend a few fascinating hours there with your kids. Wednesday is the day to go to the zoo, as visitors can pay whatever they want to pay.

Another must visit during your stay in New York, is Brooklyn’s Coney Island Boardwalk, where there is plenty to see and do for everyone. The boardwalk is open all through the year, and has more than 50 rides and attractions for visitors, which include the famous Cyclone Roller Coaster, and Wonder Wheel. All sorts of cheap snacks are available along the boardwalk and, if you go after 3pm on a Friday, you can visit the Coney Island New York Aquarium, and pay any amount you want to. Entrance to the Coney Island Boardwalk is also free of charge.

If you love visiting museums, then there are plenty of them to choose from, all over the city. Some of them offer free entrance on any day of the week, such as the Rose Museum at Carnegie Hall, the New York City Police Museum, the Guggenheim Museum in Soho, and many more.

No matter what time of the year you visit New York, but more so during the warmer months, you are sure to be there to experience one of the many street fairs and festivals that are loads of fun for everyone. Some of these include the 52nd Association Jazz Festival, the NYC Oktoberfest, the Tribeca Food Festival, and a whole lot more.

Even though you have a limited budget, shopping will definitely be on your list of priorities during your stay, and you can even do this cheaply, if you know where to go. Instead of shopping at the big name stores, vist some of the many flea markets in the city, where you can buy just about anything and everything, including those important souvenirs that you want to take back home with you, after your awesome holiday in the Big Apple!
