We love, Love, LOVE fall and wait all year for it. We are the opposite of snow birds, we like to leave home in the summer and head to places like Buenos Aires where it is fall (or at least fall-like) in July and August. Since we tend to be away from Seattle – our home base – at least 1/3 of the year, we made a pact to NOT travel in October so that we could spend at least some of our favorite season at home. I've been to upstate NY - Cooperstown. It is beautiful up there. I can only imagine what it is like in the Fall! Thanks Melanie! I’ve been to upstate NY – Cooperstown. It is beautiful up there. I've just passed through Rhode Island but never stopped. I imagine anywhere in the northeast with some trees is beautiful! As for the west coast, the Bay area and coast are fabulous in the Fall! The Catskills get my vote -- but have a wonderful time in Apple Hill! Now you know why I love the Fall so much. I was born and raised in South Carolina and graduated from USC - the University of South Carolina. I've known college football for as long as I can remember so I strongly associate it with the Fall. Not only that, I love the cooler temps, the leaves changing, just the general atmosphere of Fall. Not to mention, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Here in California, we get a good taste of Fall with the Sierras close by. I will be going to Apple Hill on Friday and I can't wait! Unfortunately in California, Fall doesn't last very long. Goes from summer to winter with only a short amount of time for the Fall. I will enjoy it while it lasts though! Nice to read that you have the same sentiments as me and we have some of the same associations! :) Caz, I totally understand. Now you know why I love the Fall so much. This is my answer for all favorite destination whether it suits it or not. LMAO I never really understood the fall season until I lived in America. In Australia really there is no such season- I just had to stop and think for a few minutes exactly what time of the year it is. :) But I would have to say after living in the US, I really love Fall. For me it is a season of fun. After the humid heat of NC, I like how it starts to cool off (although wished it wouldn't plummet to freezing temperatures), but I really love all the action that is going on. From Halloween to college football tailgating parties (yes I became a die hard fan) to christmas celebrations and the flaming golden colors of the earth. I also love pumpkin pie washed down with any number of good locally brewed beers. In fact, I think I am about to cry because I miss it so much and wish I was there right now. So for me, my favorite fall destination at the moment would be in Raleigh/ Chapel Hill North Carolina with all my friends and cheering on the Tar Heels! I say Thailand!! However, college football was my thing. Love everything about the Fall - I even got married in the Fall! :) For me, I grew up in the South and Fall reminds me of the colors, cooler weather, and football as well.
